How BEMER Works

Physical Vascular Therapy
Your smallest blood vessels do the most important work.
BEMER Physical Vascular Therapy uses a patented pulsed electromagnetic signal to stimulate microcirculation — the network of capillaries, arterioles, and venules that delivers oxygen and nutrients to every cell in your body. It is the most precisely researched device of its kind, with over 25 years of clinical development.

What BEMER is and can do — the eight-minute story about microcirculation
The problem
Most disease begins in your microcirculation.
The circulatory system has two parts. The macro-circulation — your heart, arteries, and veins — is what most people think of as the cardiovascular system. The micro-circulation — your capillaries and the smallest vessels — is where the real work happens.
Around 75% of all blood vessels in the body are microvessels. They are responsible for the final step of oxygen and nutrient delivery: from the bloodstream into individual cells. They also carry away metabolic waste. When microcirculation is compromised — through age, disease, stress, or inactivity — cells receive less oxygen, healing slows, fatigue increases, and recovery from illness or injury is impaired.
Diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and chronic pain all involve significant microcirculatory dysfunction. Addressing that dysfunction is central to improving outcomes in these conditions.
The technology
The BEMER signal is not generic PEMF.
BEMER uses pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) technology — but the BEMER signal itself is patented and fundamentally different from generic PEMF devices. After more than two decades of research in collaboration with the Institute for Microcirculation (IfM) in Berlin, BEMER developed a specific waveform, frequency, and intensity profile that has been shown to stimulate vasomotion — the natural rhythmic pumping motion of small blood vessel walls.
Vasomotion is what drives blood through the microvascular network. In healthy individuals it happens naturally. In those with chronic disease, age-related decline, or circulatory impairment, vasomotion weakens. BEMER's signal reactivates that pumping rhythm, improving the flow of blood through even the smallest vessels.
Independent university studies have shown BEMER increases local microcirculatory blood flow by up to 29% following a single 8-minute session. Results accumulate with regular use.

Institutional agreement
NASA Space Act Agreement.
NASA and BEMER have signed a cooperation agreement that governs the joint development of a prototype of a space suit, which improves microcirculation while preventing bone and muscle atrophy during space missions. It should also assist recuperation after space travel.
Signed in 2015 between NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center and BEMER USA, the agreement covers joint research and development of the prototype only — it is not a product endorsement and does not confirm the prototype has been deployed or mission-tested.
In practice
A typical BEMER session.
BEMER is designed for home use. The standard protocol is two 8-minute sessions per day, morning and evening, using the B.BODY applicator — a full-body mat you lie on fully clothed. The device does the work. You rest.
Session duration
8 minutes
Frequency
Twice daily (morning + evening)
Application
B.BODY mat — full body
Clothing
Fully clothed — no preparation needed
Sensation
None — the signal is imperceptible
Setup
Plug in, select programme, lie down
Localised applicators — the B.SPOT and B.PAD — can be used in addition to the B.BODY mat to target specific areas such as joints, muscle groups, or wounds. Specialist systems are available for equestrian use.
Safety
Who can use BEMER?
BEMER is a registered Class IIa medical device in Europe and is used by over 4 million people in 43 countries. It is suitable for most adults and children from the age of 2 upward, and for horses.
BEMER is not recommended for people with implanted electrical devices such as pacemakers or cochlear implants, or during pregnancy (first trimester). People with active cancer, acute infections, or organ transplants should consult their physician before use.
Always discuss BEMER therapy with your healthcare provider if you are managing a chronic condition or taking medication. BEMER can support — but does not replace — your existing medical treatment.
